Teach

Short
Stories
with
Activities
THE
WHEEL
of
ARTS
is
a
hands-on
program
designed
to
teach
all
subjects
through
the
arts.
It
implements
and
integrates
music,
art,
dance
and
drama
through
activities
that
accompany
each
short
story.

THE
WHEEL
of
ARTS
nurtures
creativity
while
learning
about
Science,
Math,
English,
Physical
Education,
and
Music.
The
program
allows
each
student
to
express
himself
or
herself
using
their
individual
talents.
There
are
over
one
hundred
pages
of
stories
with
activities.
Each
story
is
filled
with
rich
and
interesting
information
and
experiences,
mostly
from
the
author's
childhood.
All
of
the
stories
are
interchangeable.
Any
number
of
students
can
work
on
one
activity,
i.e.
background
music,
art,
a
commercial,
a
skit,
a
dance,
or
designing
costumes.
Students
may
also
choose
to
work
individually,
i.e.
drawing
a
picture,
composing
a
song,
or
writing
a
story
about
the
story.
Poetry
and
stories
may
be
printed
out
and
given
to
the
authors.
Submit
the
works
for
publication
by
the
school
paper.
The
program
can
be
used
for
grades
3
through
8.
Students
were
in
my
class
for
2
1/2
hours.
The
first
2
hours
were
used
for
working
on
their
selected
activities.
The
last
1/2
hour
was
devoted
to
their
presentations.
The
projects
can
extend
to
more
than
one
class
session.

Each
student
has
a
kit
comprised
of
scissors,
junk
jewelry,
old
clothes,
hats,
scarves,
needle/thread,
embroidery
floss,
glue,
markers,
cardboard,
material,
buttons,
ties,
and
some
makeup.
The
kits
were
left
in
the
classroom
until
the
next
session.
